Mitchell has been in love with live music performances of almost every genre since the late ‘60s. He and his wife, Joan Colmar, have been homeowners in New Buffalo Township since 2018 and soon discovered the Acorn Theater. They consider it the “Crown Jewel” of southwestern Michigan culture. Mitchell is Chief Executive Officer of Emperus Strategic Advisors, LLC, a consulting firm providing advisory services focused on real estate, financing, and investment fund structure and management. Prior to Emperus, he was Chief Executive Officer of Inland Real Estate Investment Corporation, a national sponsor of real estate investments.

Mr. Sabshon is a member of the board of trustees of Seritage Growth Properties (NYSE: SRG), Chair of its Nominating and Governance Committee, and a member of its Investment Committee. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of Chicago’s Timeline Theatre Company, Chairman Emeritus of the Institute for Portfolio Alternatives, and a member of the New York State Bar.
