Al Stewart with his band The Empty Pockets

Friday, Sep. 16 | 8:00pm ET (7:00pm CT)

Classic RockFolk

Acclaimed classical rock/folk singer Al Stewart returns to The Acorn!

The Scottish-born singer-songwriter has released nearly 20 introspective and lyrically powerful records featuring brilliant backing musicians (Jimmy Page, Phil Collins, Richard Thompson, Peter White, etc.). His biggest platinum successes, “Year Of The Cat” and “Time Passages,” were released in 1976 & 1978 respectively. He’s had several top 20 singles, including the above-mentioned titles, as well as “On the Border” and “Song On The Radio.”

In Al’s own Words: “I'm just a folk singer that is interested in history and wine that got lucky with some hit records! It's as simple as that really. I was always a huge music fan and originally, I had wanted to be Brian Jones and then Bob Dylan, but those two jobs were already taken. And in many ways, I'm still pretty much the same troubadour that I was back in 1965. I still get a kick out of hearing the Zombies, Hendrix or They Might be Giants on the radio.”

The Claudettes Album Release Concert

Friday, Nov. 18 | 8:00pm ET (7:00pm CT)

BluesIndie/AltJazz

The Claudettes Album Release Concert celebrates “The Claudettes Go Out!.” The Claudettes worked with Grammy-winning producers Ted Hutt (Violent Femmes, Old Crow Medicine Show) and Kevin Killen (David Bowie, U2, Elvis Costello) on a slew of new tracks for their new full-length album on Forty Below Records.

About the Artists:

Wielding their own distinctive "garage cabaret" sound, the Claudettes merge earthy blues and soul with indie-rock energy and punk spirit, writing an intriguing new chapter in American roots music. Pianist/songwriter Johnny Iguana joins seductive singer Berit Ulseth, bassist/vocalist Zach Verdoorn and drummer Michael Caskey. Johnny, who toured for years with his cult-favorite rock band Oh My God, has played on albums featuring Buddy Guy, Johnny Winter, Derek Trucks, Keb' Mo', Gary Clark Jr., Shemekia Copeland, James Cotton, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and more. He has toured/recorded with Junior Wells and Otis Rush and in 2021 earned a prestigious Blues Music Award nomination for Piano Player of the Year.

The Claudettes recorded their 2018 album "DANCE SCANDAL AT THE GYMNASIUM!" (Yellow Dog Records) with Grammy-winning producer Mark Neill (Black Keys). In 2020 the Claudettes released "High Times in the Dark" (Forty Below Records), a new album helmed by Grammy-winning producer Ted Hutt (Violent Femmes, Lucero). The Claudettes have lots of new music on the way in 2022.

“A revelatory blend of jazz and blues, stirred with punk brio. There are also dashes of classical and world music, and enough stops, starts and hairpin turns to suggest the giddiness of Raymond Scott's cartoon music...How do they do it?” —Greg Kot, Chicago Tribune

Steve Poltz and Abe Partridge

Friday, Apr. 29 | 8:00pm ET (7:00pm CT)

FolkSinger-Songwriter

TICKETS SELLING FAST!

With a cult following that includes fellow musicians, regular folks and festivalgoers there’s no common denominator to Steve Poltz’s fans. It was through his creative partnership with Jewel that he vaulted into the national spotlight; co-writing her multiplatinum #2 Billboard smash, “You Were Meant For Me,” and continues to work with her to this day.

Onstage, Poltz is part busker, part Iggy Pop and part Robin Williams, a freewheeling folkie with a quick wit and big heart.

Abe Partridge is a singer/songwriter and folk artist from Mobile, Alabama. A former Baptist preacher, Abe performs his songs like an old-time preacher gone mad—with all the soul he can muster. From American Songwriter Magazine, “Abe Partridge has established himself as one of the most respected songwriters and visual artists in the southeast.”

Partridge draws audiences in with a combination of southern gothic storytelling, a sharp wit, and gripping intensity.

Edie! Las Vegas Showgirl: UNLEASHED

Sunday, Mar. 06 | 4:00pm ET (3:00pm CT)

DragVariety

What does life hold for a queen who has performed over 5,600 shows in a Cirque du Soleil show that sadly closed permanently during Covid?

“UNLEASHED!” tackles “what’s next?” as Edie takes a look back at what lead her from her hometown of Portland, Oregon to the bright lights of New York City, and eventually to Las Vegas, the Entertainment Capital of the World. The show is a high-energy, high-kickin’ semi-autobiographical look at a performer’s career through song, stories, comedy, videos, and lots of dance!

It’s part tribute to those who have inspired her. Liza. Ann Reinking. Barbra Streisand. It’s also a celebration of a career that led a young dancer to a professional ballet career with 5 companies to a tap company in NYC to her Broadway debut in the ThreePenny Opera at Studio 54 to the host of Cirque du Soleil’s Zumanity for 13 years, and all the gigs along the way.

About the Artist:

EDIE is best known from Cirque du Soleil’s hit show ZUMANITY where she starred as the emcee, the “Mistress of Sensuality,” at the NY-NY Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. During her 13 year run, EDIE performed over 5,600 shows for over 6 million people.

EDIE began her professional dance career at the age of 17 with Ballet Oregon. For the next eleven years she danced with Pacific Northwest Ballet, Ballet Chicago, and Pennsylvania Ballet before moving to New York to pursue musical theater. EDIE quickly became a fixture in New York City where she racked up a bevy of awards including Best Drag Queen (HX Award), Best Dance Artist and Entertainer of the Year (Glammy Award). She starred in her autobiographical, off-Broadway show “LEGS!,” performed on the MTV Video Music Awards, appeared on “Sex and the City,” was featured at Wigstock and Broadway Bares, and made her Broadway debut alongside Cyndi Lauper and Alan Cumming in the Tony-nominated revival of “The ThreePenny Opera” at Studio 54.

The San Francisco Chronicle “strongly advises seeing the incredible EDIE whose talent and legs go on forever.” EDIE currently stars in “Faaabulous! The Show,” where she serves as host/performer/creator/producer in the only live singing drag show in Las Vegas every Friday at Notoriety Live!

Anyone entering the theater will be required to show proof of vaccination against COVID-19 or proof of a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours prior to entry. In addition, all who enter the theater will be required to wear masks. Click here to learn more about Acorn Covid-19 Policy.
